Zig2Serial and ZigBee

Hi, everyone. I'm trying to do my University homework and have several doubts...


When another student programmed the CM-5, found that several servos got so hot that it stopped moving. My assignment is, for that reason, to build a program that is able to read internal values while the robot is moving.


1st question: is this possible? Can I download any kind of program and read its internal values at the same time? If so, how should I do this "first program"?

a) Using a .tsk file?

b) Using my own firmware with the program in it and downloading this .hex file?

c) Programming several functions on the program I'm creating, with the same language? (VB.NET?)


2nd question: My goal is to do this reading wirelessly, using ZigBee with Zig2Serial. I know if I use the SerialPort2Dynamixel and programming it as a serial port, it's possible. How does the communicationg trough the SerialPort2Dynamixel and Zig2Serial work? I read that Zig2Serial needs six bytes to work, (or something like that), is this translationg done internally? How does all that stuff work? How can I explain to my teacher that I'm using ZigBee when I'm just programming a serial port? Can you geive me any little explanationg of how does all this work?

Hi Yulia,

 

Your information is not clear, but hope this is the proper answer. If not, please let us know.

 

1) It is not difficult to read internal values,

   If you use our controller and RoboPlus, you can do so by using the .tsk files output internal data.

   You can use your program and firmware, but this could be difficult if you do not have experience making your own firmware.

 

2. When you say wirelessly read, are you referring to the internal values of the motor?

   The ZIGBEE and ZIG2SERIAL are mounted on the computer, and the other remaining ZIGBEE is connected to the robot.

   This is possible if you set the wireless value with the zigbee, but this is not useful/convenient to measure the values that change fast.
